YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING WHAT IS BOSS AND HOW IT IS GOING GIVE A TOUGH FIGHT TO MAC AND WINDOWS SO HERE WE SHOW HOW IT WILL BE LEADING OPEN SOURCE  OPERATING SYSTEM

You might be wondering how come after so many years  BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions)  came back in existing world and how its going fight with big merchant in field of operating systems where as Linux and kali Linux already have their own part in big pie chart , so let me tell you that BOSS is big initiative taken by Indian government under digital India  program where government offices and schools colleges will be using boss as basic OS and other OS will be running on virtual or parallel mode ,all  thought it is not made compulsory but they might soon to promote digital India , they have made BOSS powerful and compatible to all latest application and software

let me start it with introduction

BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) is a GNU/Linux distribution developed by C-DAC, Chennai in order to benefit the usage of Free/Open Source Software throughout India. BOSS GNU/Linux is a key deliverable of NRCFOSS.It has enhanced Desktop Environment integrating Indian language support and other packages that are relevant for use in the Indian government domain. BOSS makes it easier for Microsoft Windows user to migrate to GNU/Linux platform, by providing outstanding features like bulk document converter, presentation tool and also features like plug and play. BOSS is customized for the ease of use in Educational Domains (schools & colleges) and variants are available to suit Enterprise users (Server Edition).

same as linux live os BOSS do come with live trial of OS if you seems its fine with your environment then you may install it as Indian i am proud of it and i would say at least once give a shot might take few hr only

you can download it form its website

that is http://www.bosslinux.in/

you can also install it on a virtual machine

you might be wondering who s going to use it but let me informe you organisation have started using it

1) Indian Banks are upgrading their ATMs to BOSS.

As previously we reported that Microsoft is pulling out their Windows XP support after 8 April. Most of the ATM’s around the world are still running on Windows XP but If they still stick to it then the ATM’s might be hacked and Hackers may steal some important data and transfer some money.

Many banks have arranged to pay Microsoft millions of dollar but not in India ! India will move there ATM’s to BOSS Linux (Bharat Operating System Solutions) which is an open source and free of cost and not as vulnerable as Windows XP. India has 115,000 ATM’s across the country but the end of Windows XP will not affect them as they’re prepared to transfer the ATM’s to linux when Microsoft will end its Windows XP support.

2)

3) BOSS Linux will be adopted by Indian  Airport Authorities

4) TamilNadu Government Laptop Scheme for Students is now Pre loaded with BOSS
