Cool Whatsapp Tricks

7 Whatsapp Tricks you probably don't know ;)

Whatsapp is growing as one of the most popular instant messaging apps..here are some cool & useful Whatsapp tricks you probably didn't know about...

1. Backup Chats

We all have got so many conversations that we don't wanna lose ever. So, to preserve them, Whatsapp has brought in a very cool feature of backing up your chats on the cloud(you can also email the chats on any of your existing accounts)

Its very easy. Just go to Settings->Chats and Calls->Chat Backup->Back Up

2. See exact time of message delivery and reading

You can come to know when your messages were delivered and read. Just tap and hold on any of the messages you’ve sent in that chat, and then click on the Info option. It works for group messages too.

3. No need to change number

If you get a new data sim, there’s no need to register the new number attached to the SIM and add all the contacts again. Just carry on using WhatsApp with your regular number. When you put your new SIM in and activate WhatsApp, you’ll be asked by the messaging service to register the new number. But doing this will mess up your contacts list. Just ignore the pop-up or cancel it, and your WhatsApp will work linked to your old number, while using your new data SIM.

4. Broadcasting Messages

If you wanna make some kind of announcement or an invitation, you’ll surely not send it to all your 300 contacts right? In that case, you just need to create a broadcast list..and add the meembers you wanna shae the message with. Your recipients will get the message as if it was a privately composed one, oblivious to the fact that you’ve sent the exact same invite to 300 other people. Isn’t that cool?Just perform the following steps-

  • Go to 'New Broadcast'
  • Add Broadcast List recipients
  • Click on 'Create'

5. Create Conversation Shortcuts

There are people you chat to more often, so its a good idea to create a shortcut for them directly on your homescreen so that you don't have to keep opening and closing Whatsapp. Just tap and hold on the chat (group or individual) of your choice and a tab will pop up. Select the 'Add Conversation Shortcut' option and the chat will appear as the person's profile photo on your mobile desktop.

6. Mute Chats

To prevent yourself from constant lighting up of your smartphone screen and an irritating chat music, you can just mute the chat. Open that chat, go to info, there you will find the option to mute the chat for eight hours to one week or a year.

7. Different Alert Tones

Not all chats are created equal, as some are filled with nothing but white noise. And it’s exactly those chats/group chats you want to ignore all the time.and some are very important ones. So you can set different alert tones for different chats..just Go to the chst/group chats, tap on the name to bring up Group Info and then Custom Notifications. There, you can select a custom message alert for the group chats of your choice. All you have to do now is remember which alert tone you assigned to which chat.
