So here, Celebrate the Blue Moon with these interesting facts about it!
It doesn't appear Blue !
yeah! It’s true…the name ‘blue moon’ has actually nothing
to do with COLOR. It can occasionally take on a
reddish pallor. Yeah, it can sometimes appear blue because of forest fire or
volcanic eruption if they litter the upper atmosphere with ash or smoke.
In
fact, any moon can be blue if any event blows a significant amount of ash into
the atmosphere. That's because particles from the smoke or ash are about as
wide as the wavelength of red light, which means they scatter red light but
allow blue light to pass through. The particles act as a blue filter, and
earthly observers perceive the moon as blue.
If you blink, you'll miss it !
yeah, it s only for a moment! Although the moon usually looks full one day
before and one day after the day of the full moon, there is technically only
one moment when the moon is full in the sky.
Occurs roughly once every 2.7 years !
so, its kind of a rare sight. After this one(31 July 2015) Blue Moon will not occur again until 2018.
Once in a blue moon !
The idiom "once in a Blue Moon" signifies a rare event because
scientists had trouble predicting when the distinctive full moon would happen
during any given year.
